THE POEM

Mensen zijn pizza's,
zei ik.
Ik zag hem eerst niet,
het was zo’n dag,
waar ik zelfs de lucht.
Niet zag
Ik keek hem aan,
waarschijnlijk was het
ongemakkelijk,
zie me gaan,
het egeltje dat prikt,
dat kruipt en wacht.
Ik eet geen pizza,
zei ik.
Bang van alles,
een dikkere ik,
een vlek tomatensaus.
Die eeuwig zou blijven.
Want zelfs een peuk,
die zo snel brandt,
ook dat belandt
Voor altijd in de natte aarde.
Waar we op stappen
Ik keek hem aan,
hij mocht niet verdwijnen,
krachteloze, machteloze,
loze woorden.
Ik babbel zo veel,
ik zeg zo
weinig
Dag,
zei ik
Wacht,
zei hij.
Alles flakkerde op in mij
Ik zag de hemel, opeens,
er waren geen wolken,
het was verstikkend blauw.
Weet je waar de bakker is?
Vroeg hij.
Ik ben niet van hier,
ik ben van nergens,
ik zoek,
ik ben het papier.
Die aan je zool blijft plakken,
telkens wordt hij kleiner,
maar hij is er toch.
Nee,
zei ik.
Hij was al weg.
Artistic Erasmus Yearly Project
"We went to Ghent to hang all kinds of poems.
The intention is that the people who pass by read a poem and that we hopefully can put a smile on their faces."
ENGLISH TRANSLATION

He said
People are pizza’s

I did not see him at first,
it was such a day
were I even did not see
the sky

I looked at him,
probably it was uncomfortable
see me go,
the hedgehogs that pricks,
that crawls and waits

I do not eat pizza,
I said

Afraid of everything,
a thicker me,
a stain of tomato sauce
Who would stay forever
Because even a stub,
that burns so quickly,
that also ends up
Forever in the wet earth
Where we step on

I looked at him,
he could not disappear,
powerless, feeble, empty words
I chat so much, I say so little

I do not know what pizza I am,
I am probably a dough patten that has not risen,
and I am hard, unhealed,
I keep kneading,
but without yeast, you are nothing

Do you have yeast?
I asked.

He looked at me and said:
You can not add yeast to kneaded dough

I laughed, laughed it away,
this is how you get happy people,
who step on, thinking of their good deed
Ask how it goes.

Bye,
I said

Wait,
he said

Everything flared up in me
I saw the sky,
suddenly,
there were no clouds,
it was stifling blue

Do you know where the baker is?
He asked.

I'm not from here,
I don’t belong to anything,
I'm looking for,
I am the paper
That sticks to your sole,
it becomes smaller,
but he is there anyway.

No,
I said

He was already gone
