Organisers

Kiara Nagel delivers training, consulting, and coordination services to foster collaboration and support equitable community development. Kiara began organizing as a youth and went on to learn from experiences as a squatter, a city planner, a coalition builder, a project manager, an event planner, a dancer, a fundraiser, a trainer, and an MC. She has contributed to many local, national and international initiatives focused on social justice and transformational change and trained and supported organizers, educators, and young people to be more effective and creative in their work. Her own active consulting practice draws on process design and facilitation, strategy, organizational and leadership development, culture and creativity work, racial justice, and sustainable social change principles. Kiara currently serves as faculty at Antioch University in Los Angeles and The International Youth Initiative Program (YIP) in Sweden. She is an Associate with the Center for Story-based Strategy and an Affiliate with Interaction Institute for Social Change and she holds a Masters in City Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mostly, Kiara loves exploring special places people love and treasure or forgot and left behind, and is committed to working with colleagues around the globe who share her commitment to peace and justice.

Kiara hopes to contribute to the 2018 Connect by supporting young people to have an experience that builds friendships and new capacities for collaboration and social change. Given care and space to develop their vision and their will, can young people of today to collectively develop new futures based on love and solidarity, beauty and fun, justice and human rights for all?
